United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest Named Top Ten Employer

USTA PNW received the special honor of being named a top-ten employer by The Oregonian/OregonLive

Beaverton, OROctober 11th, 2024 – The United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest (USTA PNW) has been named a 2024 Top Workplace by The Oregonian/OregonLive. The recently-awarded special recognition ranked USTA PNW as a top-ten employer for small employers in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Only 123 organizations in the region received this recognition after a survey was given to workers throughout the state to determine the area’s top workplaces.

This recognition comes at a time when USTA PNW, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is engaged in realizing its 2030 Vision of expanding access to tennis, integrating technology in sports management, and promoting community wellness. The region has experienced significant growth in tennis participation, increasing at nearly three times the national rate over a five-year period, emphasizing the burgeoning popularity and demand for the sport.

"We are honored to receive this impactful recognition from The Oregonian," said USTA Pacific Northwest CEO and Executive Director Matthew Warren. "I'm particularly proud of this award because it's based on authentic feedback from our employees. This recognition is a testament to our amazing team's dedication, hard work, and the strong, supportive culture we've built together. We're proud of the positive impact we're making in communities across the Pacific Northwest, and this honor inspires us to achieve even greater things in the future.”

USTA PNW is dedicated to increasing accessibility to tennis, focusing on adding more indoor courts to accommodate year-round play and providing need-based scholarships to ensure all community members have the opportunity to experience the benefits of tennis. This commitment is critical given the stark economic disparities affecting access, with a vast difference in median household incomes between those playing indoor ($186,000) and outdoor ($58,000) tennis.

"This award highlights the connection and alignment our employees have with our mission to inspire healthier people and communities everywhere, with equitable access for all. United by our powerful purpose, each of our team members plays a critical role in developing our positive culture. As we continue to create new play opportunities and impact, we stand firm in our belief that tennis is a vehicle that can transform lives," said USTA Pacific Northwest COO China Kirk.
